Peermindful Cloud Kubernetes Backend

Author: Vishal Verma (Cloud, Network & Systems Engineer, Sydney, NSW) | Category: Cloud-Native & AI Infrastructure | Key Metric: Auto-Scaling AWS EKS

Technology Stack: AWS EKS, Kubernetes, Python, RDS PostgreSQL, IAM & KMS

Overview

Architected a secure, auto-scaling AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) backend for an AI-driven mental health platform.

Architecture & Technical Implementation

Peermindful is a platform that uses AI to connect users with peers and provide mental health resources. The backend was architected to handle sensitive data securely with strict encryption at rest and in transit, scaling dynamically with user load.

Deployed on AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), the system uses containerized Python microservices behind an AWS Application Load Balancer, with Horizontal Pod Autoscalers (HPA) and isolated VPC private subnets.

Key Outcomes

Achieved resilient horizontal scaling under burst workloads while enforcing healthcare-grade data isolation and zero-trust IAM policies.
